If you’ve been thinking about joining the Slow Food movement, this week’s a great time to become a member – Slow Food Sacramento is hosting a friendly mixer on Sunday, Aug. 18 called “Cool Food on a Hot August Night.” Taking place at Magpie Café, a cozy midtown farm-to-fork hotspot, the evening will include a sampling of “cool and cold foods,” wildflower honey lemonade, local wines and beer from Track 7 Brewing Company. Attendees also will learn about (and nibble on) “U.S. Ark of Taste” foods grown by Slow Food member Mike Eaton of Kingbird Farms. Tickets cost $15 per person. For information on the event and becoming a Slow Food member, visit Slow Food Sacramento’s website.
