If you’re into gardening (and eating fresh, sun-warmed fruit) you won’t want to miss Fair Oaks Horticulture Center’s annual Harvest Day, which takes place Saturday, Aug. 3rd. This popular event is chock-full of helpful information, featuring an exciting lineup of speakers, demonstrations and educational booths in addition to yummy produce tastings (melons and tree-ripened stone fruit!) and a chance to ogle the Center’s extensive gardens. Master gardeners will be on hand to answer your most pressing questions, and there’s even a silent auction in which to participate. Speakers include the always engaging Fred Hoffman (radio host for the “KFBK Garden Show” and “Get Growing With Farmer Fred” on Talk 650 KSTE), who will discuss “Terrific Tomato Tips and Gardening for the Health of It,” and Adam Pechal, owner and chef of Sacramento’s Tuli Bistro and Restaurant Thir13en, who will chat with attendees on the subject of “Farm to Fork—From the Garden to the Kitchen.” For more information about the day’s schedule, check out the Fair Oaks Horticulture Center’s website.
