I recently stopped into Oto’s Marketplace on Freeport Boulevard for a package of mochi, and ended up spending a pleasurable half hour (and more money than I had anticipated) strolling the aisles of this marvelous store. Stocked full of any Japanese ingredient you could possibly want—plus more that you never imagined existed—Oto’s is a foodie’s playground. If you’re searching for a great selection of tea, rice, sauces, sake, sweets, kitchen utensils and produce, you’ll find it; and don’t miss the store’s pristine fresh seafood counter and array of takeout sushi and Japanese lunch entrees.
