I spent a deeply happy afternoon recently wandering through KP International Market in Rancho Cordova, a mammoth-sized grocery store that offers a dizzying array of global foodstuffs. Truly a foodie’s dream come true, the store offers everything from live frogs ($3.99 a pound) and freshly made-on-the-premises corn tortillas to an enormous produce section and any international spice, condiment, baked item, beverage or food you could imagine. But the hidden gem among all this bounty is the market’s new food court, which provides diners with an exciting array of menu options. The quick-serve food court offers cafeteria-style seating, where customers can settle in and enjoy their Persian, Korean, Greek, Russian or Chinese selections. I also spied some Japanese and American items, including ribs, and there’s probably more goodies that I didn’t see. Prices are reasonable, and the selection is so diverse that it’s difficult to decide what you want to order. I took home an excellent, spicy chile verde for my family, and plan to return soon for a helping of Persian koubideh kabob and a steaming bowl of wonton noodle soup.
