Celebrate Spring at Your Local Farmers Market

If it’s been a while since you’ve shopped at your neighborhood farmers market, now’s the time to visit. The markets are overflowing with an extraordinary bounty of gorgeous spring produce, from strawberries, cherries and fava beans to early season apricots and peaches. I went to the downtown Sunday market this past weekend and stocked up on an array of fruits and veggies, as well as locally grown walnuts, olive oil and fresh eggs. It may be a little less convenient to shop at a farmers market, but all you have to do is compare the flavor difference between strawberries purchased from a big box store and the sweet, ripe, just-plucked strawberries grown at a local farm, and you’ll understand why it’s well worth the effort.
