If traditional mimosas and Bloody Marys leave you yawning, check out Grange Restaurant & Bar’s lineup of brunch cocktails. I visited this downtown bastion of farm-to-fork cuisine recently on a lazy Saturday morning, and ordered up the establishment’s Red Beer and Grange Irish Coffee to, er, complement my meal. The former is a pilsner fortified with spicy tomato and lime juices, rimmed with bacon salt and adorned with a jaunty slice of bacon; while the latter is a comforting coffee quaff embellished with Irish whiskey and espresso liqueur, then garnished with a pouf of whipped cream. The Red Beer was a most interesting partner for my fabulous buttermilk pancakes, and one I’m not sure I would try again—but it nicely complemented the Grange Benedict, composed on sturdy house-made biscuits. I relished the Irish coffee, and look forward to coming back to try the restaurant’s brunch “Cleanser”—fresh carrot and apple juices paired with gin, lemon juice and a dash of ginger.
