Dental visits can be stressful, especially for children. While many dental practices do a good job treating children, some patients need specialized care. Fortunately there is a dentist specially trained to treat these particular patients. Board certified pediatric dentist, Dr. David Crippen has specifically built his office and trained his staff to cater to the pediatric patient. In addition to providing routine care such as exams, x-rays, cleanings and fillings, Dr. Crippen also is trained and licensed to provide IV conscious sedation in the comfort of his office. This type of sedation is a safe and effective alternative to hospital-based general anesthesia and is especially effective for young or apprehensive patients or those with extensive treatment needs. Typically treatment can be completed in one visit and aesthetic options are available such as white fillings and white crowns. Your children are your greatest investment, don’t they deserve the best?

EVOLVING CRAFT BEER
JEREMY WARREN, CEO & BREWMASTER, REVISION BREWING COMPANY
WWW.REVISIONBREWINGCOMPANY.COM

Like so many brewers, Jeremy Warren began home brewing in his garage with a vision of what great craft beer can be. He recalls finishing a glass of Pliny the Elder with his father. “Do you know what makes these beers so good?” his dad asked. “Finish your beer and pick up the glass, the glass still smells full.” This ignited Warren’s passion for the aromatics of hops. Over the years, Warren has gained a reputation for amazing hoppy beers and has earned many awards along the way, such as two golds in the U.S. Open Beer Championships, two golds in the San Diego International Beer Competition and a silver at GABF. The founder and former Brewmaster of Knee Deep Brewing Company has moved on to another project, Revision Brewing Company. Warren will continue to brew award-winning IPAs, while using his brewing talent to expand his lineup to include barrel aged and sour beers. Revision Brewing Company’s taproom and brewery is estimated to open in early Spring 2016.

Nick Sadek’s claim to fame might have been selling Eddie Murphy’s home in Los Lagos in 2007, but his strong work ethic and wealth of knowledge made him successful in the luxury home real estate industry long before then. His enthusiasm for real estate started at a young age watching his father, who was a developer, conduct business. “I always loved looking at new homes and going to new areas,” he says. Obtaining his license in 1986, Sadek began his career working at Great Western Real Estate and then Lyon & Associates in Carmichael. In 2000, he established NRS Luxury Estates. His dedication to his work has awarded him several achievements including the title of “The Number One Closer in Luxury Home Sales in Placer County” from 2010 to 2014. Client satisfaction is one of the many reasons for his success. He has a reputation for not only going the extra mile, but building a rapport with each client. “Sincerity and honesty go a long way,” he says.

3835 J ST., SACRAMENTO, CA, 95816 • 916-456-0400 • WWW.SKINLASERS.COM

An internationally acclaimed expert in cosmetic dermatology, Dr. Suzanne Kilmer, lives right here in Sacramento. Dr. Kilmer founded the Laser & Skin Surgery Center of Northern California, one of the world’s largest cosmetic and laser dermatology facilities. “With over 35 lasers and devices on-site, we can customize our treatments to each individual patient,” she explains. “Cosmetic dermatology requires an artistic eye. Whether we are tightening skin, filling lips or treating volume loss, natural appearing results are extremely technique dependent; an eye for symmetry and beauty is a must!” Noting that unnatural, frozen features often result from too much of a good thing, she promotes a “less is more” philosophy, and patients attest to looking like themselves, only younger. When not lecturing around the globe, she is happily treating her patients, cooking at home with her family, riding bikes to neighborhood restaurants or sipping wine in front of a puzzle.

Now, his mornings are spent working with out-of-state clients before driving his daughters to school. “Mornings are when I do things at my pace; the rest of the day belongs to everyone else.” Technology modernization is like painting the Golden Gate Bridge: It never stops. “Our clients spend millions on strategy and technology; we help them identify projects that have the greatest chance of success.” M Corp recently released ReM Score, a tool similar to a credit score that supports executives by detecting IT projects that have high chances of failure. “The best part of being CEO is doing innovative things,” says Alex. “The worst part is being responsible for everything else.” Over the course of 12 years, Alex and co-founders Chuck Czajkowski and Hung Lee have turned a home-grown business into a nationally recognized consulting firm.

When it comes to celebrating California’s achievements, there is nothing more sought after than the iconic blue ribbon award. It’s a simple award that represents hard work and dedication. That’s why the California State Fair team makes a dedicated effort to go above and beyond with its service, attractions, entertainment and agricultural education. They want to ensure that if they were up for the same blue ribbon award, they’d be noticed as “The Best” in the business. Each year, not unlike the Fair’s diverse group of competitors and future leaders, the California State Fair team strives to top what they did in previous years. Sound a little competitive? Maybe. But after 160 years of showcasing the best of this fine state, there’s a reason they’re still celebrating. And it’s not just about winning. It’s about offering the people of the Golden State a place to make great memories that will last a lifetime. Join in on the Best of the Best 2016 celebration, July 8-24.

I am honored to be the 2015 President of the Sacramento District Dental Society. We are an organization of dentists with a goal of enhancing the oral health of the community and supporting the practice of appropriate and ethical dentistry. Our Foundation programs, such as Smiles for Kids and Smiles for Big Kids, provide free dental care to school-age children and those who are older. Many of our member dentists and staff played a large part in the success of the CDA Cares event at Cal Expo in April, where 2,000 people were treated for basic dental needs in one weekend. Also, our 1st Tooth or 1st Birthday campaign targets the public and the medical community to spread the message that kids need to be seen by a dentist early, before problems arise. SDDS offers member benefits including Continuing Education classes, professional compliance classes and practice support. We also provide peer review services for patient/dentist disputes, as well as member referrals.

When an entrepreneur has a vision, builds a business and then becomes so successful they have to hire their first employee, we want to be there to take the reins. We never want a business owner to lose their passion for what they built and what drove them to begin their business in the first place, especially because of the difficulties of payroll, taxes, insurance and labor laws. CSL’s purpose is to handle these burdens for business owners so they can thrive within their own vision and purpose. Michelle Wightman began her career in 1989 by launching two separate employment companies before venturing on her own in 1993 and forming Certified Staff Leasing, now CSL Solutions. Michelle and CSL were finalists in the Sacramento Workplace Excellence Awards and ranked in the Top 25 Women in Business six consecutive years, ranking No. 8 in 2014. “I’m fortunate to have worked side-by-side with my father and grandfather these past 40-plus years. I can still remember getting up before the sun to ride along with my grandfather to work, the smell of cigarette ash from the overflowing ashtray in his Cadillac. We’d stop for breakfast at Pancake Circus or Jim Denny’s. I must have been 7 or 8 years old. I grew up stocking shelves and organizing aisles. I went to college, got a job in the wine industry, but the “old school” world won out. This damn industry had its claws in me. My father and grandfather started the business sometime in the ’60s. We are customer service. We are Sacramento. You’ll be amazed at what we have packed into 50,000 square feet. Vintage finds for sure. Chrome wire shelving, stainless steel worktables and sinks. We sell so much of the stuff that our prices won’t be beat.”
