Ched drol, in Tibetan, means “to make free of obstacles” and is a ritual for removing obstacles that hold us back from achieving enlightenment. This ritual involves a lot of audience participation, including having rainbow yarn, symbolizing negative patterns, wrapped around our neck and hands, then the string is ritually cut to symbolize cutting through obstacles that have held us back. Ched Drol has been a crowd favorite wherever the monks present it. This event is part of a visit by the Gaden Shartse monastery monks to 7533 Green Valley Road, Placerville, which is their first tour stop in the U.S. This location may show up as The Shabby Rabbit on some maps. For full schedule see Placerville Friends of Tibet on Facebook. All proceeds support the Gaden Shartse Monastery located in southern India. Everyone is welcome!
