Artist Viola Frey (1933-2004) played a huge role in the Bay Area’s historic ceramic revolution. This exhibition pays tribute to the innovation and experimentation she fostered as head of California College of the Arts’ ceramics studio, and that has thrived at CCA. Sculpture by alumni Peter Voulkos and Robert Arneson, to work by more recent generation of grads such as Woody De Othello, Crystal Morey, Mary Alison Lucas, and Carmen Lang, spans 70 years of groundbreaking ceramic education.
