On the Edge: CCA Clay
March 16, 2022 @ 11:30 am - 5:00 pm
An event every week that begins at 11:30 am on Sunday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday, repeating until May 15, 2022

Artist Viola Frey (1933-2004) played a huge role in the Bay Area’s historic ceramic revolution. This exhibition pays tribute to the innovation and experimentation she fostered as head of California College of the Arts’ ceramics studio, and that has thrived at CCA. Sculpture by alumni Peter Voulkos and Robert Arneson, to work by more recent generation of grads such as Woody De Othello, Crystal Morey, Mary Alison Lucas, and Carmen Lang, spans 70 years of groundbreaking ceramic education. Work by current faculty such as Chair Nathan Lynch, Arthur Gonzalez, Nancy Selvin, John Toki, and Kari Marboe, among others, exemplifies the diverse range of expression that the ceramic program has maintained during Lynch’s leadership.
Exhibit dates: March 16 – May 15, 2022
Public receptions: March 17, 5-9pm | April 8, 6-9pm (free admission)
Address: Pence Gallery – 212 D Street, Davis, CA 95616
The exhibit and catalog are sponsored by Bryan Vansell, Nancy Selvin, Lois Anderson, Marjorie Levy, Rena Bransten, Donna Briskin, Marna Clark, Allan Cohen, John Wyro, Dorothy Saxe, Sally Jackson, William Kopper, Linda S.
