In response to the huge demand for hand sanitizer during the COVID-19 pandemic, local gin and vodka distiller J.J. Pfister has switched gears to produce sanitizer gel. For now, the product—an 80 percent alcohol solution—is being sold only in large orders for first responders, but Pfister plans to make it available for sale to the public within a few weeks. The Rancho Cordova distiller makes craft spirits, including gin, potato vodka, rum, apple brandy and a distilled honey spirit called drakas.
