snow day

Nearly two inches of snow fell on Sacramento during a storm in late January of 1922. According to a Sacramento Bee story from Jan. 30 of that year, children and adults alike frolicked at Capitol Park, on the courthouse lawn and at McKinley Park, throwing snowballs and making snowmen.

This photo, taken at Sutter’s Fort, captures the rare event.
