Musical icons Engelbert Humperdinck and Tom Jones came to Sacramento in July of 1973, where they were presented with Honorary Gold Miner certificates from John Fulton, chairman of the Sacramento Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce committee on tourism. The singers were massively popular in the ’60s and ’70s for hits such as “After the Lovin’” (Humperdinck), and “It’s Not Unusual” (Jones).
