London’s top-rated attraction is the London Eye, a 394-foot Ferris wheel that offers unparalleled views of the city’s skyline. Old Sacramento is taking a page from London’s book and installing an exciting new public attraction for the holidays: a 65-foot Ferris wheel. The amusement ride, located at Waterfront Park in front of Rio City Cafe, will offer rides starting next Friday, Oct. 30, and continuing daily through Jan. 31, 2021.
Riders will get bird’s-eye views of the city from atop the Waterfront Wheel, operated by Brass Ring Amusements, Inc. The cost is $6 per rider. Riders must be at least 42 inches tall to ride.
Hours of operation are Monday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., Friday through Sunday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., and special holiday hours (10 a.m. to 9 p.m.) Nov. 25–29, Dec. 20–Jan. 3 and Jan. 15–18.
Because of COVID-19, Downtown Sacramento Ice Rink and Theatre of Lights won’t take place this year. However, other outdoor attractions will still take place, including live music at Youssefi Square Wednesdays and Fridays from noon to 2 p.m. through Oct. 30, Movies Under the Stars in Youssefi Square on Thursdays and select Fridays through Oct. 30, and Souls of the City: Día de los Muertos Walk at the Old Sacramento Waterfront through Nov. 6.
