Ryan Ritter sees something of himself in the character of J. Pierrepont Finch, the brash yet likable corporate-ladder climber in Sacramento State’s production of the musical How To Succeed in Business Without
Really Trying. “What’s similar between me and Finch is that both of us jump into something without knowing what we’re doing,” says the 20-year-old theater arts major. Full of witty dialogue and clever tunes in a 1960s time warp, How To Succeed takes a satirical stab at corporate America, offering a refreshing antidote to these tough economic times. Sac State’s Ed Brazo choreographs and directs. Performances are March 13–29 at the University Theatre in Shasta Hall at Sacramento State, 6000 J St. Tickets run $7–$15.
