The Placer Artists Studio Tour started last weekend and continues this upcoming one (Friday, Nov. 13–Sunday, Nov. 15). More than 80 artists and at least five galleries in Placer County are participating, ready to share their work—and their workspaces—virtually or in person by appointment. It’s a free event, and artwork will be available for purchase.

An excellent tour guide can be found here, and it’s your hub for the weekend—and, really, a year-round resource. In the guide, peruse the alphabetical listing of artists or explore by region (Colfax, Meadow Vista, Auburn, Newcastle, Penryn, Lincoln, Loomis, Rocklin, Granite Bay and Roseville). Each artist profile includes links to their website, social media pages and email address, and tells which of the two weekends they’re accepting appointments (many are available for both)—and whether they’re open year round. All in all, it’s an excellent guide to the arts in the Placer County foothills.

Some highlights from this year’s tour include a virtual show by Ridley Gallery at Sierra College. Called “Cultivate” and carefully curated by gallery director and art instructor Lisa Marasso, it features works by artists who have a connection to Sierra College.

Placer County is currently assigned red tier status by the state health officials to reduce the spread of COVID-19. Because the county was just downgraded from the more lenient orange, some studios and galleries that were accepting in-person appointments may be reducing their accessibility to virtual. If you go in-person, wear a mask and be ready to maintain 6 feet of social distance from the artist. Your time slot will be exclusively yours.

With art of all types available to admire and purchase—including photographs, paintings, sculpture, ceramics, jewelry, drawings, glass, mixed media and woodworkings—you’re promised an enriching and inspiring weekend. For a fun preview, check out this video.
