For three weekends in October, Preston Castle in Ione opens its doors to the region’s eeriest, most genuine haunted house experience. Rumored to be haunted, the castle has been a filming location for several horror movies and featured on television series including “Ghost Hunters,” “Ghost Adventures” and “Ghost Asylum.” In October, the haunting goes to a new level with props, sounds, special effects and (some very creepy-looking) actors. The Preston Castle Haunt is not recommended for young children, but is a magnificent scare for grown-ups who enjoy a good arm-clutching scream. Oct. 11–12, 18–19, 25–26, 7–10 p.m. Tickets $30 general ($40 fast pass). All proceeds benefit the foundation that maintains the castle. prestoncastlehaunt.com
