Cool find: Gotta dance? Take a lesson and then boogie the night away at The Ballroom of Sacramento, where Saturday nights are devoted to Latin, swing and ballroom.
Fun fact: If you’re not quite ready for “Dancing with the Stars,” sign up for Dollar Daze Dance Camps, where a buck buys you an afternoon of lessons in four different dance styles. Held quarterly.

Cool find: Spend the day strolling through the ravishingly renovated Crocker Art Museum on the third Sunday of any month, and forego the usual $10 admission: It’s “pay what you wish.”
Fun fact: Yes, we go there for the art. But be sure to grab a nibble at the Crocker Café.

Cool find: Groove to the sounds of hotshot trumpeter Joe Mazzaferro and his quintet, who host jazz night at the Naked Lounge every Monday. They play, a special guest plays, and there’s an open jam.
Fun fact: Mazzaferro has performed with such jazz giants as Christian McBride and Jimmy Heath. He’s also a prof and co-founder/director of the Sacramento Jazz Orchestra.

Cool find: Forget Nashville’s Bluebird Café. On Tuesdays, Sacramento has its own hotspot for aspiring singer/songwriters, BlueBird Lounge, at the Stoney Inn.
Fun fact: Two hours of professional studio time are awarded every week for the top three original songs performed at this open mic session.
