Sobon Estates

The Sobon Estates is slightly off the beaten track—but worth the side–step—if looking for an educational experience about the region’s wine history. The unique winery is known for organically farming its grapes and its use of a state-of-the-art screw cap. While the wine itself is modern and cutting edge; the tasting room is simple and rustic. Everything at Sobon Estates is about history, from the old kitchen cupboards holding t-shirts and trinkets to the antique spinning wheel. The winery holds the title as one of the oldest in California (founded in 1856, according to Sobon Estates). Check out the small and free Shenandoah Valley Museum where guest can learn how wine was made during the 1850s and how it is made today.
