You're The Reviewer: 3 Fires Lounge

On the theory that everyone’s a critic, we asked you, our readers, to try your hand at writing a restaurant review. Reader Tim Comstock responded with this review of 3 Fires Lounge, at the Residence Inn by Marriott across from Capitol Park.

This new bar/bistro is a winner. As a bar, it’s comfy, clean and chic. The friendly servers pass all the latest tests required of modern mixologists. For those who think a drink’s a drink, 3 Fires Lounge is much more than another well-stocked, convivial watering hole. The dining options are among the most original seen in town in a long time.

One of our party had a salad and an appetizer, loved both and declared them to equal a complete meal. First came an heirloom-tomato salad served on crispy rounds of goat cheese. Next came perfectly prepared sautéed scallops in a delicate orange vinaigrette.

The exquisite risotto fritters, prepared with pesto and sun-dried tomatoes, were filled with fontina cheese and served with roasted-garlic aioli. There’s a delicious chicken sandwich layered with warm brie and caramelized onions and an excellent cheeseburger (my personal favorite) served with french fries to die for. For the heartier appetite, there is a wonderful filet mignon with bordelaise sauce, pan-seared halibut served on a Dungeness crab cake, roasted chicken breast filled with wild mushrooms and Gouda, and handmade vegetarian pasta.

Three excellent desserts round out the menu. The fresh berry napoleon is wonderful, and the blackberry and lemon with olive oil sorbets are the best I’ve ever tasted anywhere.
