Fall Camping at Lake Camanche

Fall Camping at Lake Camanche

So, my brother-in-law just turned the big 3-0—something I can empathize with, since I’m a mere four months older than him. Originally, he wanted to do it up big—y’know, Vegas-style. But the economy forced us to change the plan, so rather than doing the big city, bright lights and late nights thing, we did the polar opposite. We went camping! We headed up to Lake Camanche (www.camancherecreation.com), which is only about an hour or so away from East Sac. It was an awesome weekend. We got lucky and had amazing weather during the nearly-winter weekend. Also, because of the time of year, it was so cheap! During peak season, the campsite alone is nearly $30 per night, but we got two nights of one campsite, three dogs and a second car for $51. Because the campsites are so close together, I can’t say I’d go during peak season, but for fall-time fun, I’m all about it!
