Would you like to hear a story? Mark the calendar for Fri., April 30, for Stories on Stage, a monthly reading series organized by local writing instructor Valerie Fioravanti. Held in a cozy space at the Sacramento Poetry Center, Stories on Stage combines two arts: short-fiction writing and acting. This month, actor Kent Gray reads “Old Will Road,” a short piece by Folsom author Renee Thompson, whose debut novel, The Bridge at Valentine, comes out this August. Marni Webb and Tim Kahl will read flash fiction (that means it’s really short) from Stefanie Freele’s collection Feeding Strays. The fun starts with refreshments at 7 p.m., with readings beginning at 7:30. Suggested donation: $5
