editorial profile:
Although Roxy Restaurant celebrates ranch life, western wear and country music there isn’t anything small-town about this upscale restaurant. From the Argentinean cowhide booths, saffron-colored drapes and hanging light fixtures that sparkle in the bar area, this place is a class act that happens to also serve bowls of chili and fried chicken. The menu is seasonal and locally focused with many of the dishes prepared with foods from area ranchers and farmers. For lunch, try the butter lettuce salad (fresh nectarines, bandaged cheddar and pecans), a beef burger with a side of skinny garlic fries or the Roxy chili that is served with organic kidney beans and chunks of sirloin beef. The dinner menu offers a pork stroganoff with ravioli, pork chops with mac n’ cheese and a roasted chicken with avocado salsa. Food is hearty, but well-proportioned and servers are forthcoming to talk about ingredients and dishes. There is often an hour-long wait on the weekends, so plan head. But skip wearing those chaps and spurs if you can. Cindy Arora

" I don't know at which Roxy's the review ate, but the Roxy's which my friend & I ate brunch recently was a huge disappointed. Yes, the place was crowded, but when seated, our service was atrocious! We had to keep begging for coffee, water, etc. which weren't given to us for quite a while! Then the breakfast which we ordered, they were all out, and when the food was delivered, it was so small in portions that you needed a microscope to find it. My experience there sucked bigtime! "

" I've been there twice for lunch (October and November 07). Both times the other party was pleased with the choice. Despite the somewhat bustling atmosphere, business conversation was no problem. The wait staff was attentive but unobtrusive. We enjoyed our food—notably the pork stroganoff with mashed potato ravioli. "

" I have eaten there 4 or 5 times and keep going back. The food is fresh and tasty; I have food allergies, and they have been willing to accommodate my special requests. Service can be a little slow, but at least they don't overwhelm by stopping every 5 minutes to ask "How is everything?" I'd rather keep visiting with my friends than be interrupted by a zealous waiter. "
