editorial profile:
If it’s your first time at Pronto, hold off on jumping in line until you’ve absorbed the menu. The counter-style restaurant—a hybrid of sit-down and take-out—has an abundant selection to choose from for lunch, dinner or a sweet snack. The broad menu—adapted from its big sister restaurant Paesanos— has pasta and plate dishes, such as macaroni and four cheese, bacon wrapped meat loaf and cheese tortellini in a gorgonzola cream sauce. For a savory quick bite, try the Pronto chips seasoned with sea salt and rosemary or the Asiago garlic fries that are roasted in garlic parsley and asiago cheese. Craving leafy greens? Salads are burrowed in enormous salad bowls and come in a multitude of combinations.Try the rotisserie cobb with chicken, romaine lettuce, crumbled gorgonzola, tomato, avocado or the Farmer’s Market with chicken, arugula, sweet corn, dates, goat cheese and tossed with a citrus tarragon dressing. For a heartier meal order rotisserie chicken and tri-tip entrees that come with grilled polenta, lemon garlic green beans and sour cream mashed potatoes. Balance out the meal with a scoop of gelato that comes in espresso to chocolate mint flavors and take a seat in the airy outdoor patio. Cindy Arora

" When Pronto replaced Huki lao (spelling incorrect), I was thrilled. I never did think Hawaiian food was a good idea in our fair city. Pronto has the best chopped salad, farmers salad, polenta, chips, garlic bread and soup- really. I have introduced all my friends and they concur. Tonight, when I ordered my quattro formaggio sandwich, I was told the menu had been changed and all they had to offer that might be similar was the new four cheese pannini. I ordered it. It was fine, but anyone can grill cheese- really. Please-please bring back my quattro formatggio with the mushrooms, greens, and cheese!!! It is so good!! Also, my friend said she ate there last week and that her favorite soup (pasta fragouli-spelling, again, incorrect) had been replaced with a lima or butter bean soup. She was very disappointed! While I understand the need to keep a menu fresh, it is really not wise to remove the foavorites, is it? Please put 'em back!!! we miss our favorites!!!
