Parlare is a loft-style restaurant and lounge in the center of downtown; it exudes urban edginess in a stylish setting, with live music every day—including a lunchtime pianist and live jazz in the dining room on Sunday nights. Owners Dale Robertson and wife Sheena Stirling, both restaurant veterans, have created the place they would like to go on their evenings off. Parlare (which means “talk” in Italian) is divided into three levels, with a private VIP room overlooking the streets of downtown Sacramento, and a spacious and cool-looking dining room anchored by a large bar. The menu includes late-night small plates, dinner and lunch; Sunday’s menu is prix fixe. Start your dinner with an appetizer of phyllo baked brie, move onto the goat cheese fritto and beet confit salad and for the main course: a garlic and thyme filet mignon prepared to perfection.
