Tucked away in a shopping center in East Sacramento Opa Opa is a restaurant that blends Greek and Middle Eastern flavors in a colorful and casual atmosphere. A combination of sit-down meets counter style, Opa Opa creates an environment great for a casual dinner or a quick pick-up meal. The menu pulls together a bevy of dishes from the Mediterranean and the Middle East, including a garlic chicken pita and falafel. Try one of the pita pizzas, souvlaki (another word for kabob) that comes in chicken, lamb, beef and seafood or opt for a grilled leg of lamb flavored with fresh rosemary, olive oil and garlic. " First, I always like a restaurant where upon being asked what time they close the response is, "We're open for as long as you want to eat!" Not only did they keep the restaurant open for us (past 9:30pm), but when they served us we were delighted to find that the food was absolutely incredible. We ordered the hummus (it might have been the best I've ever tasted) with pita bread as an appetizer. For the "main course" we split the garlic chicken pita and feta burger --- both were delicious! Because it was late, we were the only customers in the place at the time so the brothers who run the place, Habib and John, came over, introduced themselves, and struck up a conversation about Greece, Greek food, and Ouzo. They were such friendly, warm-hearted people they even gave us all a hug good-bye as we left. We'll definitely return . . . but next time we're bringing our friends! "
