There are so few places where a craving for grilled fish can be satiated for an affordable price. But perhaps this is why Fins Market& Grill has remained a popular seafood spot in the greater Sacramento area since it opened in 1991. It’s casual and comfortable, with the appropriate New England fishing town décor on the walls. But be clear, there aren’t burgers, beef tacos or any kind of red meat here, it’s strictly seafood—albeit chicken fingers for the kiddies— and that’s the way they want it. The menu is straightforward with appetizers such as shrimp cocktail, oysters on the half-shell and crab cakes. It has fish and chips, crab tacos and a cioppini. For lunch try the halibut or opah (Hawaiian mild fish) sandwich and for dinner indulge, in live Maine lobster, cracked crab, ahi or one of the seasonal specials. If you want fish to go, order from the market where fish comes boneless, skinned (if you like) and packed on ice. Cindy Arora

" I love the Seafood Louis salad at Fins. It's simple and uncomplicated, but very good. I appreciate the fact that they don't drown the food in sauces or seasonings. The seafood is very fresh, and they serve everything grilled, allowing the taste of the fish to shine through. "
