" I'm a New Yorker and instantaly fell in love with Ella as soon as I walked through the door. I've been so many times several of the servers know me. On a Friday night, you feel like (just for a few hours) you have stepped into a swank Manhattan trendy spot. I love the fact that people even feel compelled to dress better than I've seen at most restaurants in Sacramento. Way to go Selland family. "

" Our party of four was experiencing Ella for the first time. We were all impressed with the service, ambience and especially the food and wine. What a great dining experience!! We highly recommend Ella to anyone who has an appreciation for the term " you get what you pay for". We certainly did!! " We rencently spent a wonderful evening at Ella'S. The service was attentive, professional and friendly. The food was fabulous from beginning to end. Our wine could not of been paired better with our food. The owner came over and personally introduced himself. Our bartender (Jared was great) The restaurant is amazingly beautiful....Thank you Ella's for a great night! " We were a party of four, and only one of us had been to Ella before last night, so this restaurant already had a very high recommendation. I found that none of the negatives from prior reviews by other diners was valid. Our server, Jennifer, was courteous, knowledgeable, and attentive. While Ella has acquired a reputation for being rather pricey, I was very pleasantly surprised, and the final bill certainly compared favorably with those of comparable estdablishments. The general decor and ambiance are easily among the most tasteful and elegant in the city, and the food is equally worthy of praise. Well done, Mr. Selland. "

" Randall Selland knows food. You might be surprised at the pairings when reading the menu, but when you taste them you understand why he did it. The potato leek soup tasted great, but was a little overprocessed—a bit of a gluey rather than grainy texture. But the sea bass over beans and fennel was exceptional. The recommended wines were very good—a Chablis available by the glass is a nice touch. The service is attentive, almost overly so, but if you want a special dining experience, you might appreciate it. The decorator put old shutters all over the ceiling and parts of the wall—interesting at first, but would you like to see it repeatedly? The rest of the decor impresses and gives an upscale, urban atmosphere. "

" I have eaten at "ELLA" 4 times so far, and plan on many more. This is a Beautiful, elegant, restaurant. Ella, has the elegance of restaurants we've dined at in New York, and San Francisco. The food is fabulous. We loved sharing the small plates. The Gnocchi was heaven, shortribs devine, pasta perfection. We had a blast in the bar. The raw Oysters were the best we've ever had, and the house cured Lox were luscious. We were smitten by our server Sammy! All of the employees were very gracious, and helpful. Bravo ELLA! Thank you for a unique dining experience. "

" The atmosphere is neither for fine dining nor could it be considered for a romantic dinner but rather is that of a noisy oversized bistro. The decor is interesting and attractive but tables are too small for the venue of sharing multiple plates with room for a bottle of wine. There are no table cloths but rather small runners. One feels cramped and forced to have converstions with others nearby. Few modestly priced wines are on the menu. The food is priced to be exquisite but is fair to average in flavor and presentation. Service is attentive but slow. "
