Tucked away in the Pavilions shopping center on Fair Oaks Boulevard, David Berkley has been serving the community for 23 years as a neighborhood market, wine shop, lunch joint and take-out place. The market itself sells high-end food products, fresh-made pastries, organic coffee and has a well-stocked wine and alcohol section that includes boutique wines, upscale grappa and a choice of premium vodkas. The delicatessen offers made-to-order sandwiches that are layered with fresh cheeses, Boar’s Head meats and unique condiments that give the simple sandwiches a refined flavor. It offers a menu of hot dishes—that alternates every week with new items—but one can always find an offering of quesadillas, calzones, pizzas and full dinners, such as grilled pork loin chops. It also has side dishes, fish specials and soups. There are bistro tables inside, but the primary dining area is its spacious outdoor patio that overflows with diners during the lunch rush.
