editorial profile:

Want to impress the in-laws or that Special First Date? Head out to beautiful Buonarroti Ristorante in Town & Country Village. One of the most lavishly decorated restaurants in the area, Buonarroti showcases intricately painted trompe d’oeil Venetian murals, a sleek demo kitchen, soaringly high ceilings and amusing light fixtures in the shape of a pair of hands grasping a candle. Menu items are delivered on big, handsome square plates, and staff members are friendly and professional. Arrive hungry, as the restaurant’s dishes are undeniably rich and hearty. Traditional Italian house specialties, such as the fork-tender Veal Piccata (sautéed with capers, butter, lemon and white wine); and the lasagna (hand-rolled seasoned beef and Italian sausage meatballs baked between layers of pasta, Bolognaise sauce and mozzarella, ricotta, Parmesan cheeses) are especially popular at Buonarroti, but the kitchen also offers a nice selection of pizzas (try the chicken Carbonara pizza) and appetizers. On a recent visit, I enjoyed the light, crispy calamari fritte, beer-battered and deep-fried calamari “tubes” and tentacles, served with a toothsome housemade tartar sauce; and a lovely, fresh spinach salad, dotted with roasted walnuts, cranberries, juicy mandarin orange slices and feta cheese. The fanciful décor and lush Italian cuisine at this attractive restaurant will make you feel as if you’re on a European vacation. - Kira O'Donnell

Insider tip: If you visit on a Wednesday night, all the bottles on the wine list (with the exception of Opus) are half price.
