Brew ItUp—a gastropub in the heart of downtown Sacramento—is unabashedly beer-centric. It boasts brew-making classes; brew parties and a staff who know their stuff when it comes to hops and barley. Like any good pub, food at Brew It Up is deep fried or grilled, smothered in cheese and bursting with flavors that complement the two dozen beers on tap. Start your meal with an order of blue cheese kettle chips or fried brussel sprouts. If in the mood for a salad, go classic with a Caesar or try a sweet little number called coconut chicken (coconut crusted chicken, pineapple and candied walnuts.) Burgers are meaty and take two hands to grip, and entrée selections include from baby back ribs, New York strip steak, cilantro chicken and beef stroganoff.
