As we were going to press, John Gurnee (formerly the chef at Mason’s) was getting ready to open his new midtown gastropub, Kupros Bistro. What’s a gastropub? Basically, it’s a bar that serves high-quality, sexed-up food. The gastropub trend started in England, made its way across the Atlantic to New York and has now officially landed in Sacramento. Expect to find oysters, bone marrow and poutine (French fries with fresh cheese curds and short-rib gravy) on the menu.
