Tribe of the Red Horse - Neil Young & Crazy Horse tribute Northern California's Premiere Neil Young tribute!

Sacramento-based Tribe of the Red Horse celebrates the music of Neil Young and Crazy Horse with a resonance that is true to the music, not the shtick. Forget the long hair and mutton chops. Remember the wall of sound full of electricity and passion.

Tribe of the Red Horse is comprised of guitarist/vocalist Wayne “Tex” Whitzell, guitarist Frank Kenney, bass player Charles Williams and drummer Ernie Belles. Their goal is to deliver what Neil Young and Crazy Horse is known for: The guitar tone, raw energy and genuine concern for the human race communicated through music.

“Neil Young goes 180 degrees when he thinks he’s becoming too successful or too patterned,” Whitzell said. “He eschews success to chase his art. I’ve always respected that. I’ve always had tremendous respect for his music and tremendous respect for the man. His songs are less about showiness and narcissism and more about creating a wall of sound.”

The band has devoted many hours to recreating that sound and the feeling of the music without going to kitsch.
