Slice: A Juried Cross-section of Regional Art

The Pence’s Slice exhibit, now in its 2nd year, is open to all artists residing in California and showcases work in all media that is conceptually thoughtful, technically skilled and representative of contemporary trends in art. Named for its brevity and charge to represent a sampling of what’s being produced right now, Slice represents works chosen by Rachel Teagle, Director of the Jan Shrem and Maria Manetti Shrem Museum of Art that is scheduled to break ground this year at the University of California, Davis.    Ms. Teagle received her PhD in Contemporary Art History from Stanford University, and is known for her work in arts education and in building new audiences for contemporary art.  She most recently served as the executive director of The New Children’s Museum in San Diego and has also held curatorial positions at the Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego, the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art and the Bay Area’s Anderson Collection, a private collection made up primarily of mid-20th century to present American art.   We invite you to meet the artists on Friday, June 14th, from 6-9 PM, as part of 2nd Friday ArtAbout in Davis.
