|
| Description |
As part of a nationwide effort to raise adoption awareness, a public event will recognize children living in foster care in California and who continue to await a permanent family.
More than 3,400 children and youth in the Greater Sacramento Region are living in foster care. More than 1,000 children are in need of a permanent family today.
Providing a voice for the voiceless...Join us for the “Calling Out of Names of Children Who Wait” at the California State Capitol, North Steps.
59,000 California children are in foster care; more than half will not be able to return home and need a permanent family. During this 4-hour vigil, a succession of community and business leaders, adoptive parents, and child advocates will read aloud the names and ages of the children who are waiting for families in California.
Community Resources:
11am to 3pm - Adoption Fair: Local agencies (EMQ Families Firat, Lilliput Children's Services, Sacramento County DHHS and Sierra Forever Families) will be on hand to share information about adopting a child or youth from foster care and the resources available to adoptive families.
