The Pence presents its first juried exhibit of fine craft by artists and craftspeople residing in California, as selected by Julie M. Muniz, Associate Curator, Design and Decorative Arts, Oakland Museum of California.
By Hand: Extraordinary Fine Craft in California showcases work that is cutting-edge and has the highest standard of workmanship. Artists were selected for their aesthetic vision and innovative use of materials, including wood, clay, acrylic, textiles, and metal.
Exhibiting artists include Marlene Bloomberg, Susan Brady, Beverly Crist, Dede deGraffenried, Alex Friedman, Tricia Goldberg, Mark Goudy, Bill Heiderich, Franki Kohler, Barbetta Lockart, Emma Luna, Chris Motley, Kathy Pallie, Liza Riddle, Jan Schachter, Louise Schiele, Jeff Snell, Matt Trethric, Melissa Woodburn, and Carolyn Zeitler. Several guest local artists were invited as well, such as Joshua Rutherford, Marjan Kluepfel, Dean Moniz, and Paula Bellacera.
This exhibit is sponsored by the Creative Arts League, which is dedicated to promoting, exhibiting, educating and building a community of art enthusiasts around a shared interest in art and fine craft throughout Northern California.
