Bust! The Cars That History Left Behind
The California Automobile Museum’s latest special exhibit, Bust! The cars that history left behind takes a look at what are known in the car collecting world as “orphan cars:” those built by automakers that are no longer in production. Among the dearly (and some recently) departed will be one of the most spectacular failures in automotive history, the DeLorean DMC-12! Conceived by former General Motors executive John DeLorean, the stainless steel-bodied sports car became notorious when DeLorean was arrested on charges of attempting to smuggle cocaine in a desperate bid to raise money to save his company, then later rocketed to movie stardom as the time machine in the Back to the Future series. This exhibit is appropriate for the whole family. |
