Come September 21 and 22, enjoy a get-away weekend in Amador County combining a glimpse into artists’ lives with picturesque scenery and small-town charm. Experience the richness and variety of the county’s artistic talent while driving along winding roads, over streams and through vineyards and forests.
For the sixth year, the Amador County Artists Association (ACAA) is sponsoring the Artists Open Studios tour. Visit 14 different locations featuring 27 artists. Participating will be painters, photographers, fiber artists, and jewelers along with artists working in ceramics, gourds, collage, sculpture and more. At this FREE tour you will be able to enjoy demonstrations, inquire about an artist’s work, collect unique masterpieces and even get a chance to WIN a piece of artwork at the Artists’ Raffle.
At Rollingwood Clubhouse in Jackson artworks donated by each artist for the raffle will be on display. Tickets will be available for $1 each or 6 for $5. Each item has its own box in which to place your tickets. The drawing will take place at 4 PM on September 22; you need not be present to win. All proceeds support the Amador County Artists Association’s Scholarship Program and Annual Student Art Show.
The FREE full-color map/brochure will help you make the most of your studio tour. After August 15, maps will be available throughout the county at libraries, visitor centers and art galleries. You can also find them at Hein & Co., Clark’s Corner, Susan’s Place, Ridge Road Garden Center, Upcountry Hardware and Dr. Kenneth Curry’s office. Maps and information can also be found at the ACAA website www.amadorcountyartists.org or by calling 209-296-1779 or 209-295-4667. This year’s benefactors are The Amador County Arts Council, Gallery 10, Mother Lode Printing, Hanford Street Gallery, and Steve Holler.
