Want to Revel in Farm-to-Fork Cuisine? Check Out Taylor’s Kitchen

Posted on August 13

Now is the time to savor fresh, ripe summer produce - and one of the most exciting restaurants in town in which to enjoy it is at Taylor’s Kitchen in Land Park. This popular neighborhood spot’s menu showcases a colorful array of locally-grown fruits and veggies. I enjoyed juicy, seasonal peaches in two very different dishes on a recent visit - a knockout veal sweetbread appetizer included sweet-smoky grilled peach slices; while a crusty, eat-it-messily-with-your-fingers fried chicken wing appetizer was drizzled with a delicious, full-flavored peach barbecue sauce. The kitchen’s garganelli pasta entrée was a delightful tumble of Sacramento summer: included in the dish were soft chunks of yellow squash, sweet-as-candy cherry tomatoes, crisp sugar snap peas, and a delicate sprinkling of fragrant chopped herbs. Stone fruit also made an appearance in the restaurant’s desserts – pastry chef Jennifer Thibodeau incorporated tangy, fresh-plucked pluots into a tart with frangipane and lime foam; and white peaches were crafted into a panna cotta, garnished with blueberry puree and a pistachio biscuit.
