Sacramento, CA 914-447-8900 2010 Best of Sacramento Winner - Best Restaurant to Take the In-Laws Chops Restaurant is first and foremost a steakhouse. If the menu doesn’t sell you on that, then perhaps the industrial-size refrigerator—in the front lobby—packed with hunks of raw meat will. The restaurant has dark wood walls, oversized well-cushioned booths and a brawny bar with a stash of double-malt scotches. The menu is an opus to aged meats with a slow roasted prime rib, a 32-ounce porterhouse and a pan-roasted rib eye. A side order of lobster tail or crab cakes makes for a surf and turf ensemble. The menu also lists steak and chicken sandwiches, dishes such as the Atkins special (ground filet mignon with blue cheese and bacon), salads and comfort favorites: beef stroganoff and meat loaf. The inviting bar has cowhide bar stools and a drink menu with classic cocktails from yesteryear—such as the old fashioned and the bourbon Manhattan.
