Krazy Mary’s Reboots

Five years after decamping from East Sacramento to midtown, Krazy Mary’s Boutique is back where it first started in 2000. In June, owner Mary Kawano relocated the store from J and 25th to the corner of Folsom and 33rd, just a block away from its original digs. “It’s a scary time to move,” she admits. But Kawano, who also owns midtown’s Sugar Shack Boutique, says Krazy Mary’s original customers were never really comfortable with the J Street location. “The customer is more an East Sac person,” she explains. Translation: slightly older and more affluent than the typical midtowner. She says Sugar Shack will continue to cater to young, hip urban women, while Krazy Mary’s will target a wider range of fashion-forward customers.

The new store carries lines such as Max and Cleo, Fluxus, Hard Tail, Religion, Charlotte Tarantola and Vava by Joy Han, plus denim lines Rock Revival, Joe’s Jeans, Anoname, Black Orchid and Level 99. Prices are all over the board, from $15 for a tank top to $438 for an evening dress.
