Start your meal with scorchingly hot green tea, a slightly sweet, delicately cardamom-flavored beverage that will put you in the mood for what’s to come. Must-order dishes include mantoo (plump steamed dumplings filled with spiced ground beef and yellow onions) and skewered, charbroiled leg of lamb. The sautéed catfish, smothered with softly stewed onions, tomato and garlic, is another excellent choice. For dessert, Afghani-style vanilla ice cream is flavored with rose water and sprinkled with dates, figs and pistachios. Kids are warmly welcomed.
