Shawn Colvin

Posted on January 8

It seems like eons since singer-songwriter Shawn Colvin made a splash on the scene with 1997’s “Sunny Came Home,” a mid-tempo folk-rocker that sailed to the Top 10 and earned two Grammies. But while many artists hit it big once and disappear, Colvin endures, continuously touring—she’ll be at the Crest Theatre on Jan. 12—and releasing a steady stream of well-crafted albums highlighting her smart lyrics, strong and precise guitar work, and solid vocals. Her most recent album, “All Fall Down,” reveals a continued lyrical incisiveness and has earned some nice nods from the critics, including Mark Deming of allmusic.com, who calls it one of Colvin’s most satisfying works since the ’90s. No doubt she’ll bring some of these new tunes alongside “Sunny Came Home” when she brings it home to the Crest.
