Sacramento Youth Symphony’s Premier Orchestra

Posted on January 15

They may be young at “art,” but the musicians of the Sacramento Youth Symphony’s Premier Orchestra are mind-bogglingly talented—even though they’ve yet to hit middle school. Check out their Winter Concerto Concert on Saturday, Jan. 25 at 7 p.m. at Hiram Johnson High School.

The program will include Beethoven’s “Piano Concerto #1 in C Major: Allegro con Brio,” Brahms’s “First Symphony” and Elgar’s “Enigma Variations,” as well as a command performance by 11-year-old Roger Xia, an accomplished pianist and violinist and the current concertmaster of the Premier Orchestra. Hear this Elk Grove native tickle the ivories with the skill of someone much older—though he’s only in elementary school.

For tickets and more information, call (916) 731-5777 or visit sacramentoyouthsymphony.org. Hiram Johnson High School is located at 6879 14th Ave.
