Sacramento VegFest

Posted on June 4

With fertile soil, vast stretches of farmland, rich mineral deposits, and abundant rivers and streams, the Sacramento Valley is overflowing in natural resources and, in turn, vegetation. The diversity of the plants and vegetables grown here has made Sacramento a destination for foodies and farmers alike. With the current focus on Sacramento's farm-to-fork culture, it's more evident than ever that fruits and vegetables are just as compelling on the dinner table as a good piece of meat. If you've got to be a vegetarian somewhere, being a vegetarian in Sacramento isn't a bad place to do it.

On June 7, the Del Paso Boulevard Partnership is hosting Sacramento VegFest 2014, a celebration of vegetarian, vegan, raw food and healthy lifestyles. The festival includes cooking demos, lectures, book signings, recipes, raffle prizes, kids’ entertainment, free food samples, veg food concessions and more. Guests can expect some special guests, as well—Mariel Hemingway, Dr. Doug Lisle from Forks Over Knives, champion vegan bodybuilder Ed Bauer, and chef Brooke Breston will all be in attendance. Everyone (including meat-eaters) is welcome to join and celebrate earth's bounty. For more information, see here.
