Beer Fest With a Funny Name

Posted on April 2

The Sacramento Ball Sack and Beer Fest is trying to be coy, but its name still induces a blush. Can you guess what this event is all about? If you really can't guess, APCO Sports Inc. is putting on its inaugural beer/sports/carnival festival on April 5 in hopes of raising awareness and money for the Testicular Cancer Awareness Foundation. Despite the festival's direct association with a certain male appendage, this is a family-friendly event. While beer drinkers can enjoy beer samples from the 30 or so breweries at the event, everyone else can get into the country fair spirit with classic carnival games like the dunk tank, skee ball, pin the "balls" (hey!) on the donkey, and burlap potato "sack" (oh!) races while live music plays in the background. Food from Ink Eats and Drinks, Beach Hut Deli and Drewski's Hot Rod Kitchen will be rounding out the afternoon.

With nearly 8,000 new cases of testicular cancer in the United States each year in males ages 15–35, this disease isn't something to sweep under the rug. Still, testicular cancer is often not talked about or adequately researched because of the taboo around it. By joining in at the Sacramento Ball Sack and Beer Festival, you can break down that taboo a little bit, contribute to the cause, and have fun doing it. For more information, see here.
