Midtown Out Loud

Posted on March 12

After going into hiding when issues arose around finding a host, Sacramento's free form, radical, grown-up talent show Midtown Out Loud is back. Formerly at home at Mondo Bizarro and Midtown Village, this community open mic club has found a new home at Shine, and is beginning its rebirth on March 19, with further performances every first and third Wednesday of every month. Anybody is welcome to perform, and all you have to do is show up and sign in at the start of the night. Performers are welcomed to show off their spoken word, read their own poetry or the poetry of others, sing, dance or play music. Past performances have been extremely popular, and have been a bonding experience for all the midtowners who gather to celebrate art, music, literature, and good food and drinks. Midtown Out Loud is an expression of the Sacramento community vibe, and is an outpouring of love and passion and art for its organizers, performers, and audiences. For anyone who loves Sacramento, the opening night of Midtown Out Loud is an ideal chance to not just survey the local talent but to celebrate the ties we all share to each other and this growing city. Make-A-Wish Foundation's 27th annual Wine and Food Fest

Images from the Make-A-Wish Foundation's 27th annual Wine and Food Fest Saturday, April 25, 2015 at the Sacramento Convention Center. Guests were treated to food and drink from nearly 100 local eateries and bars. Other vendors auctioned off wares and services ranging from hand-woven free trade baskets to modern art work and vintage photographs. Proceeds from the event went to the charity’s mission of arranging experiences for children with life-threatening medical conditions.
