Prom is the pinnacle of American teenagerdom, but unfortunately prom in real life is rarely like it is in the movies. For many of us, that special night was less “Pretty in Pink” and more gawky in braces and bad crimped hair. Thankfully, Crocker Art Museum is here to the rescue. On Feb. 13, you can relive your prom memories—but this time with booze!—at the Crocker's Art Mix/Prom, a special pre-Valentine's Day dance for adults wanting to do it up right this time. Expect live music and DJs, tacky dresses and cummerbunds, and a photo booth for you and your honey to do your best dorky pose in. Of course, it wouldn't be a Crocker event without an art twist. Several featured artists and designers will be teaching corsage and boutonniere making, and docents will be giving short art talks on the fabulous gowns currently displayed at the museum. After you make your own artful prom accessories and learn a thing or two, stick around for the contest for best ’70s, ’80s and ’90s prom ensembles.
Oh, and yes, the punch will definitely be spiked. This is prom done right.
