A parade, two dance pavilions, a kids’ zone, entertainment—all this and more make up the Sacramento Pride parade and festival 2013, put on by the Sacramento Gay & Lesbian Center. The event takes place Saturday, June 15. The parade, free to the public, starts at 11 a.m. at Third and N streets. Parade Grand Marshals are Brandi Glanville, Sacramento native and star of the “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills,” and Councilmember Steve Hansen, the first openly LGBT person elected to the Sacramento City Council. The festival follows the parade and takes place on Capitol Mall between Fourth and Seventh streets. Admission is $10 and free for children ages 5 and younger. Click here for more information, including a list of performers. (Hint: One is of “American Idol” and “The Voice” fame and two are from “RuPaul’s Drag Race.”) Proceeds from the event benefit the Sacramento LGBT Community Center, which provides services for at-risk youth, a free weekly legal clinic, transgender support and more.
