Just because it's Halloween doesn't mean you have to spend the night eating hot dogs and grocery store candy. The Golden Bear in midtown is putting on a one-night-only pop-up dining event for revelers with a more refined palate. Michael Thiemann, former executive chef of The Selland Group and Tyler Florence's restaurant group, will be camping out at the Bear and putting on a preview of Mother, his vegetarian restaurant opening later this year on the K Street mall. Backing him up is hot-shot bartender Andrew Calisterio, who made a name for himself in Sac with his craft cocktails before being recruited by Maven in San Francisco. He's back to the Bear on Halloween to celebrate the launch of his new company, POP!, which specializes in local, custom, limited, personalized cocktails and sodas. Thiemann will be providing unlimited bites from Mother's menu while Calisterio will be whipping up drinking pairings. The night is rounded out with music from DJ Lisa D, CrookONE, and Mike C.
